Integrated fiber optics

High transmission rates in conjunction with the trend towards highly integrated systems, are resulting in a demand for efficient fiber-chip couplings.

In response to this trend, INGENERIC has developed innovative solutions for fiber-chip coupling. As a result of meticulous structuring of a single-mode glass fiber end, for example, it has been possible to achieve lateral de-coupling of the light signals through the fiber cladding. Additionally, an additional micro-structure in the fiber cladding itself, substantially reduces the optical coupling paths between the fiber and the diode.
