The optimum FAC ...
... for your application can be found swiftly and easily using the INGENERIC FAC-Selector. There are two options:
- You have already selected your laser diode. In the right-hand graph listing the divergencies for diodes, start at the divergence value for your diode and draw a line perpendicular to the curve with the characteristic smile for your diode (Step 1). Then draw a horizontal line to the graph on the left-hand side (Step 2). This line intersects the "Divergence Lines" of the INGENERIC FACs. Now select a FAC. Move vertically from the intersection point to the abscissa (Step 3). This will show the residual divergence of your FAC-diode combination.
- You know the residual divergence required by your system design. Start from the opposite end and draw a perpendicular line starting from the required residual divergence shown in the graph on the left, until it intersects the "Divergence Line" of the INGENERIC FACs. Then carry out the steps listed above in the opposite order. This will point to the optimum FAC-diode combination for your application.
